Earlier this week, Pete Reihm and Dean Young were asked if they would file articles of impeachment against U.S. President Barack Obama. Reihm and Young, who are both running against incumbent Rep. Jo Bonner to be the Republican candidate in Alabama’s 1st Congressional district (southwest Alabama), replied “yes,” they would file articles of impeachment against Obama.

Mayor Bell banked $232k in campaign cash in 2011

Only a few years ago, Birmingham Mayor William Bell couldn’t afford to pay his campaign manager, who later sued him. Today he has $175,738 in campaign cash, the Birmingham News reports, and that’s after spending $230,765 during last year’s mayoral election. Bell’s biggest contributions came from PACs with ties to the Business Council of Alabama and Drummond Coal. And that campaign manager? He finally got his money and is very happy, his lawyer says.

State Sen. Shadrack McGill calls teacher pay raises ‘unbiblical,’ defends raises for lawmakers

Speaking at a prayer breakfast this week, State Sen. Shadrack McGill, R-Woodville, (neither name nor hometown made up) said that raising teacher pay is against the teachings of the Bible because it would attract people not “called” to teach, the Dekalb County Times journal reported Tuesday. In the very same speech, McGill defended a 62 percent pay hike for state lawmakers, saying it protected them from corruption.
