Alabama state Sen. Harri Anne Smith returned to the floor of the Alabama Senate Thursday and wrapped her arms around one of the witnesses against her in a recent trial, fellow senator Scott Beason.
Beason (R-Gardendale) taped conversations with Smith (I-Slocomb) and other colleagues for the FBI as part of an investigation in vote-buying in the legislature, and testified in the first trial.
Stephen Crews at the website DothanFirst.com reported that Smith said she hugged Beason because it was the right thing to do.
Smith and five other defendants were acquitted Wednesday in the Alabama bingo corruption retrial.
