Jefferson County has agreed not to file for Chapter 9 municipal bankruptcy for the next 30 days, while the county’s creditors have agreed not to hike sewer rates or raid the county’s cash reserves. The “standing still period” will allow the county and its creditors to negotiate in good faith, Commission President David Carrington said.
