He may have a famous father, but Lukas Nelson – son of Willie – isn’t resting on his laurels or family name. Fronting the quartet Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, the younger Nelson offers a gritty sound that blends Rock and Country. On Monday, May 7, Nelson will perform at Workplay with Indian Rodeo opening the 8 p.m. show.

Currently, Nelson and his band are touring in support of Wasted, their second full-length album released in April. The release comes on the heels of a busy 2011 that found the band performing over 200 shows – including Farm Aid and The Bridge School Benefit – and appearing on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Late Show with David Letterman.

Tickets to the 18+ show are $15 and can be purchased at www.workplay.com

Mississippi native Paul Thorn will appear in Birmingham at WorkPlay on May 11 in support of his new CD, What the Hell Is Going On?
