If Huntsville’s Antoine Dodson has anything to say about it, Internet fame may last longer than 15 minutes.
Dodson gained notoriety after a North Alabama television station, WAFF-48, aired an interview with him following an assault and intrusion on Dodson’s sister by a stranger. Dodson had some words of warning for the man who attacked his sister: “You don’t have to come and confess that you did it. We’re looking for you. We’re going to find you. I’m letting you know now so you can run and tell that, homeboy.”
But Dodson really became a bonafide internet sensation after mash-up artists the Gregory Brothers remix Dodson’s video, auto-tuned it and posted it to YouTube and iTunes. Dodson got a cut of the proceeds from that remix, which is known as the “Bed Intruder Song”:
Dodson capitalized on his fame by selling merchandise, including a “Bed Intruder” Halloween costume and making club appearances. But recently, he’s found a new outlet for his creativity: music.
According to the Huntsville Times, Dodson released a new song and video, “Lovesick Lullaby,” earlier this week. The R&B song features Dodson on the verses and Athens songwriter and singer Brent Morgan on the chorus.
