Beginning tonight, September 27, and continuing each Thursday evening through October 25, five local restaurants will participate in the second annual “Taste of the Magic City” fundraiser for M-POWER Ministries.

The first event takes place tonight at Little Savannah.
The rest of the schedule is as follows: The Red Cat Coffee House, October 4, Saw’s Soul Kitchen, October 11, Bottletree Café, October 18 and Silvertron Café, October 25.

Each restaurant has agreed to donate a portion of its proceeds on those days to support M-POWER, a faith-based nonprofit in Birmingham that uses education and health services to help people break the cycle of poverty. Located in Avondale, M-Power was established in 1998.
Taste of the Magic City was formerly known as “The Taste of 35222.”
M-Power operates the only completely free medical clinic in Jefferson County, providing walk-in care, primary and specialty care to about 2,000 patients annually, according to a news release from the organization.
The release also states that the group’s education center is the largest adult literacy service provider in the state and also offers GED and career programs.
The group also maintains as community garden.
