Birmingham film blogger Jerry Roberts attended a speaking engagement by film star and well-known eccentric Al Pacino on Friday, June 15, at the Alys Stephens Center at UAB, as part of the annual VIVA Health Starlight Gala.
For those of you who missed the event, Roberts submits this brief account, in his post, “Al Pacino: One Night Only.” Pacino showed film clips, told stories of movie making (including the first time the cast of “The Godfather” got together) and even read from Oscar Wilde, Roberts reports.
Roberts is studying communications at Jefferson State Community College. He posts reviews of new and classic films at his site, www.armchaircinema.com.
Last week, Mixed Media posted a preview of Pacino’s appearance written by Jesse D. Jones (“It’s business, Sonny,” June 15.
